I remember sitting on the couch next to Eric after putting my kids to bed and thinking “shit, I didn’t write a post today.” and then trying SQUEEZE out some content just so I could make sure I posted. I can’t be the only one who has felt this.
There was a time before this that creating content and telling stories felt fun, light, and powerful… and then came all the “recommendations” of what I “should” do to continue to scale my business.
And I am a mom of three, so my time is incredibly valuable. I felt the pressure to show up in a certain way, create in a certain way, display my business in a certain way…but it wasted my time and didn’t convert… or FEEL good.
I tried to keep up, to make sure that I posted at the right time, posted enough reels, used all the “right” tools on Instagram… and just like that, marketing for my business became just another box to check.
And somehow, the list of all of the boxes I thought I was supposed to “check” continued to grow longer, and longer.
What I thought was me doing everything “right”... filtering my posts, using the right words, posting “how-to’s”, mixing up pictures, graphics, reels… actually just removed my voice.
It all felt hard to create, heavy, and honestly…boring. But the pressure to do it this way left me going back and forth.
I felt stuck between wanting to unleash my powerful stories and checking all the right boxes that basically told me I need to be or do things differently.
What I learned from this is powerful - there is no checklist that works when you are trying to create connection with other humans.
Signing clients in my DM’s started with an authentic conversation… not because I shared a “top 3 tips” post.
Because here’s the thing, I am not going to admit that I am a pro-graphic creator, but I will claim that if you put me in a room full of CEO’s I will lead and guide them. Like the badass woman I know I am.
I learned that when you pressure yourself into being someone you aren’t, it doesn’t work. What does work is YOU being YOU. It’s time to take the pressure off of being perfect, trying to check all the boxes and bring YOU back.
It’s time to remove the feeling of needing to look, sound, or write a certain way and remember YOU ARE ENOUGH. I’m giving you a permission slip today to shine as the expert you are. And that is the key to attracting what you desire.
