How to Overcome the Dread of Coming Back to Work After a Break

Struggling with Stability in Your Business? Here’s What I Would Do

If you’re feeling the weight of business challenges—like unpredictable income, burnout, or difficulty retaining staff—you’re not alone.

Without a sustainable revenue model or clear role definitions, your business lacks stability and security, leaving you even more scatterbrained and worried about what your next steps should be.

When clients come to me feeling this way, we focus on shifting from a reactive, month-to-month mindset to a proactive, long-term strategy.

And this can be scary at first, especially if you’re used to looking at everything from a monthly perspective.

I’ve been in those “What do I need to be doing this month?” shoes, too…it’s not fun. So here’s what I suggest:

First, I’d your current sources of revenue and how they are achieved. If your prices do not reflect the work you provide, it’s time to raise them. If your services require too much of your time, think of how you can offer something that creates a deeper impact and uses less of your energy. A better business model brings predictability to your income, making it easier to plan for growth and stability.

I’d also redefine roles within your team to maximize efficiency—like combining positions such as an instructor who also manages social media or admin tasks. Doing so can lead to better employee retention by providing them with more comprehensive job descriptions and career growth opportunities.

Lastly, I’d track your marketing efforts closely to understand which channels truly bring in the most business, rather than spreading resources thinly across all of them. I’ve dropped off on certain platforms when they weren’t giving anything back from sharing value on them. When you know exactly which marketing efforts work, you can direct your resources more effectively, reducing waste and boosting revenue.

By making these strategic shifts, you’ll learn to step into a proactive role, build more stability, and prepare for the future with confidence.
